Molekulyar shakldagi vodorodni qazib olinadiganyoqilg'i, biomassa va suv kabi turli xil manbalardan olish mumkin.Ushbu manbalardan vodorodni olish uchun sarflangan energiya doimiy ravishda mavjud bo'lgan ortiqcha miqdorda bo'lishi kerak.Shunday qilib, vodorod ishlab chiqarish texnologiyalarida qayta tiklanadigan energiya (quyosh, shamol, dengiz to'lqini va boshqalar) salohiyatidan foydalanish uni barqaror ishlab chiqarish imkonini beradi. Keyinchalik, vodorod ishlab chiqarishning asosiy texnologiyalari ishlatiladigan xom ashyoga qarab belgilanadi: qazib olinadigan yoqilg'i yoki qayta tiklanadigan manbalar.
