This research paper investigates the pragmatics of rudeness in Uzbek and English through a corpus-based analysis of linguistic behavior and politeness strategies. The study explores how speakers express and control rudeness in these languages, considering the influence of cultural norms and expectations on linguistic conduct. By examining a diverse range of spoken and written texts from various situations, the study aims to identify linguistic elements, discourse patterns, and pragmatic tactics used to portray rudeness. The research questions focus on understanding how rudeness is conveyed, the politeness tactics employed to address impolite utterances, the impact of cultural and linguistic variables on rudeness expression and perception, and potential differences between the pragmatics of rudeness in Uzbek and English. The findings of this study contribute to the field of pragmatics and promote effective cross-cultural communication and intercultural understanding.
